Pre Licensing & Licensing Classes For New Agents

It would seem that the number of real estate training courses on the market has soared in recent times. Clearly, these figures reflect that a majority of real estate brokers are not producing enough commerce to survive in the marketplace. This is because in large measure, real estate training is too focused on business & client servicing activities, and not income producing activities. As a result, real estate training is no longer as important as it was before the real estate downturn took hold.

To get an idea of just how important real estate training used to be, consider that in the late 80s when real estate agents were starting out in their new career as young as sixteen, they had very little real estate training to speak of. They would attend a few classes at the local Community College, take some licensing exams at their local state office, and then find employment at a real estate agency. Even then, they would be somewhat unsure of exactly what they were getting into. Today, virtually every real estate agent who works in this marketplace has undergone significant real estate training and has passed the test for his or her particular license.

Even those agents who have not gone through a real estate training program are aware of the importance of this training. Most potential and current realtors know that passing the exam to become a realtor is the first step toward becoming a licensed real estate agent. Many also realize that without passing this exam they will not be permitted to practice real estate within the jurisdiction of their choice of state.

The first real estate agent who started out without a real estate license was Frank Vandersloot. He did attend a real estate training program at the local Community College but it was not nearly long enough. Vandersloot ended up having to give up his new York state real estate license after he was arrested on suspicion of carrying an illegal weapon. Vandersloot ended up serving twelve years in jail and was prohibited from practicing as a real estate agent in New York. He was also forced to pay huge fines and court costs.

Fortunately for anyone thinking of becoming an agent without a real estate license, there are now excellent pre-licensing programs available online. These programs are both low cost and very easy to complete. In order to complete these online real estate training courses the agent needs only have access to a computer and the Internet. The online pre-licensing exams are administered in the same way that the traditional licensing exams are administered. All that is required of the aspiring real estate agent is to study until he or she feels confident that he or she understands all of the topics covered in the online pre-licensing course.

In the end it really does not matter which real estate school an agent goes to. What is important is that they receive the education they need to become the real estate agent of their dreams. Once they get started on the road to real estate agent success, they will be glad that they enrolled in a quality online real estate school rather than a cheap one. And when they finally get licensed and begin to build their real estate portfolio, they will be proud of themselves for putting in the time and money to get started.
